(8/2015) "The 2012 Syrah Turner was fermented with roughly 50% stems and saw the normal Syrah regime of two years on lees in neutral French oak. From a cool site that always yields a gamy, complex wine, this 2012 is defined by its almost searing levels of white and black pepper that dominate the bouquet right on opening. With air, more black raspberry and blackberry fruit develop and it has plenty of crushed-rock-like minerality and underbrush as well. Medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, fresh and singular, it's a wine that will benefit from a few years in the cellar and drink nicely through 2024."

(6/2015) "Once again, the 2012 Syrah Turner Vineyard is the star of the show at Melville. An exotic mélange of blood orange, violets and spices makes a strong first impression. Deep and beautifully layered on the palate, the Turner offers superb depth and plenty of tannin to back it up. An explosive, vibrant finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal. This is a real head-turner from SAMsARA and proprietor Chad Melville."
