==========

2023 Domaine Font de Courtedune Vaucluse
Southern Rhône Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
At a recent training session, we blind tasted our entire team on this wine. All were stumped, with most guessing it at around two times the price!
Fermented using whole clusters and raised in large concrete vessels, her 2023 Vaucluse features deep notes of red berries, plum and cherry along with savory cracked pepper and herbs.
From her 100-Point 2022 Châteauneuf to her wonderful Côtes du Rhône bottlings, we have had great success with Caroline's wines. Labeling today's wine with the overlaying Vaucluse appellation allows Caroline to make it an equal parts blend of Syrah and Merlot. The result is quite delightful.
Packed with the kind of dense, easygoing Southern Rhône character that makes you want to quickly come back for another glass, there is a purity and lift here that makes it perfect to drink on its own and with so many meals. Whether it's burgers, hearty pasta, grilled sausages, pizza or roast chicken, this wine perfectly fits.
At $12.99, this is the kind of everyday red we are always on the lookout for. Artisan, authentic and delicious. The value here is simply amazing!
New Wine Enthusiast Review for Régis Poissinet!
Régis Poissinet "Terre d'Irizée" Extra Brut NV
Champagne, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
After taking over from his parents nearly 20 years ago, Régis Poissinet converted the vineyards to biodynamic farming and has been certified since 2011.
With a dosage of less than two g/L, this high-acid, mineral-focused Champagne dances on the palate with notes of tart strawberry and pear, along with fresh lemon and delectable apple danish notes. The village of Cuchery is known for its Pinot Meunier, which is the dominant varietal in today's Champagne, rounded out with 13% Chardonnay.
The bubbles are fine and the finish is persistent. It is a very versatile wine that can be used for toasts, after-dinner sipping, and alongside mushroom risotto, roast duck, charcuterie or pâté. The unmistakable fresh pastry notes really come through in Wine Enthusiast's brand new 94-point review:
“The nose feels like walking into a bakery first thing in the morning, with a beautiful mixture of cooked and uncooked dough that is impossible to resist. The palate delivers Golden Delicious apple, lemon verbena, and walnut before gently guiding into a soft chalky finish. Elegant and layered, this one impresses from the first sip straight through dessert.”
