==========
2022 Pamplin "Boisseau Vineyard" Chardonnay
Chehalem Mountains, Willamette Valley, Oregon
~~~~~~~~~~~
This beautifully balanced and delightfully refreshing Chardonnay is unfined and unfiltered, showing off complex aromas and flavors of fresh green apple, tropical pineapple and mango, classic lemon zest, honeysuckle, and hazelnut along with a clean, piercing streak of minerality that would not be out of place in a great Pouilly-Fuissé.
As with all of Pamplin’s single-vineyard offerings, production is tiny. The 2022 vintage yielded just 122 cases from their 2.6 acre east-southeast facing Boisseau Vineyard Chardonnay parcel.
This classy Chardonnay will pair effortlessly with roast pork tenderloin, grilled pork chops, roast chicken, fettuccine Alfredo, fresh oysters, chilled seafood salad, warm crab cakes, and... well, we think you get the idea.
Of all the wines we have featured from Pamplin over the years, this clean, pure, and sultry Oregon Chardonnay is the only one from an estate-owned vineyard, and it is the only one from Oregon. It's a seriously classy wine that is drinking great now, and has many years of life ahead.
The $35 winery price is in line with the market for a wine of this caliber. Today, we let it fly for half that amount. If you love a pure, crisp, well-crafted bottle of Chardonnay, or know someone who does, click quick to get in on the action!
2020 Pamplin "JRG" Cabernet Sauvignon
Columbia Valley, Washington
~~~~~~~~~~~
We featured the 2022 Pamplin “JRG” Cabernet Sauvignon on Christmas Eve and it was gobbled up in a flash. Today we bring you their glass-staining 2020 bottling - with two extra years in the bottle - for an even better price!
This soft and silky 100% Cabernet was sourced from the Klipsun (29.2%), Scooteney (25.0%), and Elephant Mountain (45.8%) vineyards - three impressive sites.
Gobs of ripe blackberries, red and black currant, cassis, and black cherry explode out of the glass, complemented by pleasing scents of mocha, baking spices, and a wisp of smoky embers that are lifted by violet-accented floral tones. Wow! There is a lot going on here.
With well-integrated tannins flowing effortlessly through the long, complex, and oh-so-delicious finish, this Cab is begging for a prime Filet Mignon. Stock up big and enjoy it any night of the week with burgers, steak tacos, BBQ brisket, or all on its own. A legit yummy wine here.
At the winery, the 291 case production JRG went for $40. We bring this polished and elegant orphan of the vine to you today for a crazy price that is twenty-three bucks less!
