95, 96 and 98-Point Knockouts from Patricia Green Cellars!
Does any producer in the world bottle as many exceptional Pinot Noirs as Jim Anderson of Patricia Green Cellars? This quote from wine writer Paul Gregutt really nails the magic of Patricia Green on the head.
“I reviewed 29 different Pinot Noirs from this winery in October, all from the 2022 vintage. And that was not entirely comprehensive – I believe there were a half dozen more that I somehow missed. Suffice it to say I adore these wines. Not only is each and every cuvée distinctive, they all emphasize elegance and detail over sheer power, and they all reflect careful attention throughout the winemaking process. As value plays they also stand above the crowd.”
- Paul Gregutt, December 2024
Today we’re bringing you three rather outstanding bottlings from the winery's 2022 vintage, each of which are at very special Vin Chicago prices that make the values stand even prouder above the crowd!

2022 Patricia Green Cellars
"Estate Vineyard - Old Vine" Pinot Noir
Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley, Oregon
~~~~~~~~~~~
Before we even get to the flavor profile of this one, we need to make a quick note about pricing. While Jeb Dunnuck calls this a killer buy at $45, our price on this superstar Pinot is a full 24% less. Massive value here.
Packed with concentrated flavors of red and black fruits along with a Grand Cru level structure, this old-vine Pinot Noir from the winery's home estate earns strong 94-Point reviews from both our team and Wine Advocate along with beaming 95-Point reviews from Gregutt and Dunnuck. This is a very special Pinot Noir, and the price is ridiculous!
“Old vine in this instance refers to self-rooted Pommard planted 1984 – 1998, prior to the acquisition of the property by Patty Green and Jim Anderson. Old vines done right deliver elegant, detailed, subtly layered flavors that add length and depth to the wine. Though young, this wine has an old soul, and the palate conjures up visual as well as sensory highlights. It suggests autumn leaves, berry pies, Thanksgiving turkey and the last days of fall before winter sets in. Pastry fruits, a hint of mint, brambly herbs and more highlights carry on through a smooth and supple finish.”
- 95 Points, Paul Gregutt (10/17/2024)
"Patricia Green’s Estate Vineyard in Ribbon Ridge is comprised mostly of self-rooted Pommard vines planted between 1984 and 1998. The site was heavily impacted by spring frost in 2022—around 70% of the fruit was lost. 'We were just devastated by the frost,' owner and winemaker Jim Anderson says. All of the Chardonnay was lost, while Pinot Noir averaged just over one ton per acre. In a normal vintage, Anderson would use the estate Pinot Noir to craft several cuvées. In 2022, all the fruit was allocated to the 2022 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard Old Vine. Fruit was entirely destemmed, and the wine was matured in just 5% new French oak. It unfurls slowly in the glass, segueing from wild mint, damp earth and tobacco to tones of cranberry, red cherry and bergamot. The medium-bodied palate features a concentrated core of savory fruit. It’s structured by finely chalky tannins and vibrant acidity, and it has a long, layered finish. It will benefit from 2-3+ Years in bottle. 1,124 cases produced. Drink Date: 2025 - 2040.”
- 94 Points, Wine Advocate (12/19/2024)
“A killer value, the bright red 2022 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard Old Vine boasts a highly complex and layered nose of spiced cherries, lifted spice, rose petal perfume, iron-rich earth, and hibiscus. Medium-bodied and tension-packed at this stage, it’s linear and coiled with great energy. Long on the palate, it’s a ton of wine for the price. It’s going to be worth holding onto and drinking over the next 10-15 years. Maturity: 2024 - 2039."
- 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (8/6/2024)
2022 Patricia Green Cellars
"Weber Vineyard" Pinot Noir
Dundee Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon
~~~~~~~~~~~
This small production bottling hails from the Weber Vineyard, one of Oregon’s older sites. On the nose and in the mouth, it is soft, full, seductive and completely yummy. Earning 94+ Points from our team, it is classically delicious Dundee Hills Pinot!
“This beautiful and amazing site sits on a unique geological formation on the hillside. There simply aren’t many 35+ year old vineyards in Oregon. In our nearly 20 years of working with this vineyard, it has routinely produced one of our top wines of the vintage.”
- Jim Anderson on Weber Vineyard

“This is sourced from a 1983 planting of Pommard – does it get any better? The forward, juicy, bold berry fruitiness of Pommard is neatly scaled up by the depth and texture of these mineral-prone old vines. Flavors of chalk, raspberries, marionberries, chewy tannins and light touches of chocolate and dried herbs combine almost seamlessly. It finishes with a tangy tartness and a smack of savory herbs that resonates long past your last swallow. 482 cases.”
- 96 Points, Paul Gregutt (10/10/2024)
“The 2022 Pinot Noir Weber Vineyard is a stunning wine crafted from Pommard clone vines planted in 1983 in volcanic soils. Various percentages of whole clusters were used during fermentation, and the wine was matured in 20% new French oak. The nose is bursting with rhubarb, raspberry and accents of lilac, Earl Grey tea leaves and conifer. It floods the mouth with layers of mouthwatering, fragrant red fruit. It has a luxuriously silky texture and a very long, nuanced finish. 482 cases were made. Drink Date: 2025 - 2040.”
- 95 Points, Wine Advocate (12/19/2024)
“The 2022 Pinot Noir Weber Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1983 and takes a youthful red color with a light haze. More lifted and slightly feral herbal spice lifts from the glass along with notes of fresh red flowers and fresh herbs. It’s linear, lifted, and refreshing on the palate and has a pastoral feel, with fine tannins and a note of dewy fresh earth. It’s drinking beautifully now and will drink well over the coming 10-12 years. I really love the freshness of this. Maturity: 2024 - 2036.”
- 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (8/6/2024)
Jeb Dunnuck quotes $60 for this very special wine, and we have no complaints about that price. Only two online listings, and we handily beat them both!

~~~~~~~~~~~
Earning scores of 97, 94 and 98 Points, this rare Ridgecrest Vineyard bottling is one of the most exciting wines in the Patricia Green lineup.
“The grandfather of all the vineyards in Ribbon Ridge. The wine from this site is sublime. This beautiful piece of land that should be considered hallowed ground by those that follow wines from this region of the world. That we have any of this site at all is amazing.”
“This wine comes from the first vineyard planted (more than 40 years ago) in what would later become the Ribbon Ridge AVA. These old vines are owned and farmed by Harry and Wynne Peterson-Nedry, who had the foresight to believe in this terroir and plant here before anyone else saw the potential. This lovely bottle should inspire you to thank them and anyone else who maintains such rare and valuable vines; the wines they produce are ongoing time capsules that capture the past and lead into the future. This compact beauty brings ripe berries, tart tree fruits, pretty baking spices, silky tannins and light touches of clean earth into the mix. The balance, proportion and length are sensational. Delicious now, but worth putting a few bottles away for a future special occasion. 363 cases; 12.9%.”
- 97 Points, Paul Gregutt (12/19/2024)
“The 2022 Pinot Noir Ridgecrest Vineyard offers singular aromas of smoked cranberries, rhubarb, pipe tobacco, aniseed, rose petal and Earl Grey tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is silky and bright with understated yet nuanced flavors that range from fruit to earth and spice, and it has a very long, detailed finish. 363 cases were made. Drink Date:
2025 - 2040.”
- 94 Points, Wine Advocate (12/19/2024)
“The 2022 Pinot Noir Ridgecrest Vineyard is focused and crystalline with notes of cherries, cinnamon, woodsy spice. Entirely destemmed, it’s medium-bodied and has a vibrant and mouthwatering feel, with salty earth, well-defined tannins, and a hint of orange citrus. It has a great level of intensity all the way though and demands time in bottle. Drink it over the next 15 or more years. Maturity: 2024 - 2039.”
- 98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (8/6/2024)
