2022 Terres d'Avignon "Kermit Lynch" Côtes du Rhône
Southern Rhône Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
From vineyards in Châteauneuf-de-Gadagne, a Cotes du Rhone-Villages site with plenty of the famous galets roulés you see in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this blend of 46% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 9% Mourvèdre, 5% Carignan, 3% Marselan, and 2% Cinsault comes from 40-year-old vines whose grapes are fermented with natural yeasts in neutral cement tank and then bottled sans fining or filtration.
Aromatically alluring from the first pour, this wine is ALIVE! Pure, vibrant flavors of cherries, grenadine, kirsch, anise, fresh rosemary, and peppery herbs mark this invitingly authentic, wonderfully easy to drink red. With plenty of vitality and no heaviness, it’s just the kind of Rhône red we crave!
You’re going to love this one, and you'll love it even more when you think back to how little you paid for it. The $14 median online price already makes this a killer value. We're going a step beyond by bringing it to you for a price that beats every single one of the 87 national listings!
Do you remember the good old days when you could get a terrific Côtes du Rhône for just twelve bucks? We'll you're still living in them.
2023 Domaine Roger Neveu Sancerre
Loire Valley, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Counting themselves among the 318 residents of the hamlet of Verdigny, the Neveu family can trace their roots in this town back to the 12th century. Just one kilometer from the epicenter of Sancerre enthusiasm, Chavignol, their south-facing Embouffants vineyard fuels the personality of this bottling. Pitched at gradients as high as 40 to 50 degrees, this quite dangerous to farm property hosts dry-farmed vines digging deep through the shallow rocky topsoil into limestone.
The resulting wine is everything we love about Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Complete and structured, it shines with notes of gooseberry, white currant, lemongrass, wet stones, yellow bell pepper, grapefruit oil, white asparagus, lime sorbet, guava, and mango essence. The structure offers classic Sancerre tension, and the finish goes on for a full minute, resonating with hints of salt and chalk.
Spring is here, and this is a slam-dunk Sancerre with a classic profile that will have lovers of this famous Loire Valley region completely enamored!
