2024 Robert Goulley Chablis
Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Céline, the daughter of famed vigneron Jean-Marc Brocard, and Frédéric, the grandson of Robert Goulley, have a rich family history in the region. To say they have Chablis in their blood is an understatement.
Coming from 40-year-old vines planted on their certified organic estate, this 2024 release was fermented using wild yeasts and aged for a year on its lees. On the nose are beautiful aromatics of fresh-cut white flowers and orchard tree blossoms that leap from the glass.
The palate features pronounced fresh notes of green apple and lemon that are clean and clear as can be. At 12.5% ABV, this light, crisp white is easy-drinking, refreshing, and totally crushable. Pair with ice cold oysters, fresh goat cheese, ceviche, and just about any other chilled seafood snack you can dream up. If there’s a better Chablis value out there, we haven’t found it yet!
2024 Robert Goulley “Vaillons” 1er Cru Chablis
Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~
Wow! This 2024 bottling from the Vaillons 1er Cru vineyard is classic and undeniably authentic in its Chablis character.
Mouthwatering flavors of crunchy green apple, pear skin, and lemon zest are met with notes of dried white flowers and a deep minerality that showcases the signature chalk and oyster shell from the fossil-rich marine limestone “Kimmeridgian” soils that have made Chablis famous.
With racy acidity giving ample lift to the medium-full texture and long, complex, mineral-laden finish, we are a STRONG 93 points. Premier Cru Chablis this good for under fifty dollars does not come around often, and we think you're going to really love this one!
