==========
2023 Baca Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
~~~~~~~~~~~
Jennifer Brown, daughter of Napa Valley vintners Craig and Kathryn Hall, launched Baca in 2018, and has been knocking it out of the park with her Zinfandels made from fruit sourced across the state. With the 2023 vintage, she took advantage of fruit available from her mom's vineyard in Napa Valley and made her first Cab. To no surprise, it is a big-time winner!
Enticing Napa Valley Cabernet aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberries and cassis are layered with fine green herbs, cocoa dust and a hint of pepper. True to her roots, Jennifer has included a small percentage of Zinfandel in the final blend, adding a perfect touch of concentration, ripeness and spice.
The palate is polished and well-balanced, featuring soft tannins, fresh acidity, and a long finish. Fun and delicious right out of the gate, it will continue to offer immense drinking pleasure over the next five years.
Given the preponderance of Hall family estate fruit, this is a serious value even at its regular price. Thanks to a special purchase, we bring it to you for a pre-arrival price that beats every one of the nearly 100 listings.
Having already received massive acolades from Jeb Dunnuck and The Wine Palate, this Napa collectible is one of the family's best Cabs yet.
“A blend of multiple sites, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall shows a saturated purple hue and offers smoky red and black fruits, graphite, tobacco, espresso roast, and chocolate. This puppy is full-bodied and has a deep, rich, opulent mouthfeel, remarkable purity, ripe, polished, chalky tannins, and a great finish. It's a powerful blockbuster styled beauty that brings the goods and will drink well over the coming 20-30 years. Drink 2025-2055.”
- 97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (12/22/2025)
“Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall (98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot) sashays out with fragrant notes of violets, dried mint, star anise, and forest floor, leading to a core of blackcurrant pastilles and boysenberry preserves, plus a hint of Sichuan pepper. The full-bodied palate is plump yet energetic with a lively backbone and fine-grained tannins, finishing with a minerally lift. Nearly 50% of the fruit comes from Sacrache Vineyard this year. Drinking Window: 2027 - 2047.”
- 97 Points, The Wine Palate (3/2026)
Due to be released to market next month, this cellar-worthy classic has yet to be listed on the winery’s website, but they are still selling the 2022 vintage for $225. Our special pre-arrival price makes this one a very smart buy for collecting and gift-giving!
