While we can't tell you the name of the site from which this plush, elegant Cabernet is sourced, we can tell you that it comes from a single, dry-farmed vineyard on the corner of Oakville Cross Road and St. Helena Highway, a stone’s throw from Opus One!

Jax proprietor Dan Parrot and winemaker Kirk Venge jumped all over an opportunity to acquire a few tons of premium fruit from this vineyard, and used it to make today's special one-off bottling.

Up until now, it has only been available at the winery, where it sells for a reasonable-for-the-neighborhood price of $80 - already a good bit less than most other vineyards in the area. Thanks to a big dose of Vin Chicago magic, our price is half that amount!

Produced from dry-farmed Old BV Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon vines, this succulent Napa red is rich, dark and concentrated, bursting with pure fruit flavors of black cherry, ripe raspberry and cassis. Awarding scores of 94+ and 94 points, Jeb Dunnuck and Decanter Magazine love it as much as we do...

“Coming from just 12 barrels, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is a rockingly good wine offering the notes of cassis, currants, black olive, graphite, and chocolate that give it a quintessential Oakville style. It's full-bodied, round, and mouthfilling, with ripe, present tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. Aged 21 months in 70% new French oak, it should drink well over the coming 10-15 years. Drink 2025-2040.”

The result is a very good, very affordable Oakville Cabernet, layered with juicy blackberry fruit, graphite, sagebrush and thyme. Velvety, integrated tannins carry the wine across the palate, leading to an expressive, focused finish marked by wet river-stone minerality. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2036.”
