The $39.79, Double 95-Point Caprili Brunello!
As the youngest president ever elected of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium, winemaker Giacomo Bartolommei is a rising star in Tuscany.
When he visited our Elston Avenue store a few weeks ago to pour his family's wines, we were happy to learn he's also one heck of a nice guy.
The star of Giacomo's visit was his 2020 Caprili Brunello. Today we bring you this 95-Point stunner for a rather bonkers $39.79 price that beats every single online listing!
Read on for our 95-Point notes along with a trio of reviews from the wine press, then hammer that Big Green Button to lock in on this rare Brunello bargain while supplies last.

2020 Caprili Brunello di Montalcino
Tuscany, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
Beautifully layered with a sublime texture, noble grip and complex structure, this 2020 release from Giacomo has everything we look for in top tier Brunello di Montalcino.
From the first sip, there's a sensual texture that we really love and over the course of the evening it just gets better as this stunning red reveals even more length, sophistication, deliciousness and forward accessibility.
On our scale this is a solid 95 Points, with cassis, dried blackberry and black raspberry concentrate flavors seamlessly layered with complex Tuscan herbs, spices and earth. The only thing not here is a big price!
“Aromas of violet, plum cake, leather and truffle follow over to the palate along with ripe cherry, bitter orange and nutmeg. Smooth, velvety tannins give it an almost creamy texture. It’s already incredibly enjoyable but will offer years of fine sipping. Drink through 2035.”
- 95 Points, Kerin O’Keefe (12/2025)
“The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino reveals the dark side of Sangiovese, with more black fruit than red. A mass of crushed stone minerality blows off to reveal spiced orange peels and incense. It's silken and round, with a polished core of ripe blackberries offset by a tinge of sour citrus toward the close. It leaves the cheeks puckered with tension as edge tannins resonate and hints of licorice fade slowly. Drinking Window: 2026 - 2038.”
- 94 Points, Vinous - Eric Guido (11/2023)
“The Caprili 2020 Brunello di Montalcino delivers a rather robust fruit profile with blackcurrant and blackberry preserves. That initial intensity ties into black licorice (of the candied variety), sweet spice and fragrant incense. This is an open-knit Brunello with velvety, medium-grained tannins to support a pairing with lamb or pork. You don't need to wait too long to enjoy this wine. 47,000 bottles were released. Drink Date: 2025 - 2036.”
- 94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (11/21/2024)
When we featured the 2020 Caprili last year, our price was pretty hot. Today's beats-all-75-listings price is even more insane. It is unbelievable that in an era of rising costs and tariffs, we can bring you a Brunello of this caliber for under forty bucks. Grab enough to drink now and over the coming decade!
A Limited Quantity of Giacomo's 2019 Brunello Riserva!
2019 Caprili "AdAlberto" Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Tuscany, Italy
~~~~~~~~~~~
From a single hectare of vines originally planted by Giacomo’s great-grandfather Alberto, just a few hundred cases were bottled of this densely packed Riserva...
“An unbridled beast just waiting to be tamed.”
- Vinous, November 2025
“The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Adalberto opens with a rich blend of crushed plum and cherry complicated by hints of smoke, ashen stone, leather and citrusy spice. It's seamlessly smooth and silky in feel, with radiant red and black fruits that ride a stream of brisk acidity as saline minerals saturate toward the close. A sweet and sour sensation lingers through the finish as a tinge of pomegranate mixes with blood orange over a bed of grippy tannins. The 2019 is an unbridled beast just waiting to be tamed. Drinking Window 2028 - 2040.”
- 95 Points, Vinous - Eric Guido (11/2025)
“The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva Adalberto is a shade brighter red than the 2020 and is bright with strawberry fruit, sweet herbs, floral rosy perfume. Medium-bodied, it is supple and inviting with a silky and more open Grenache-like profile with a richness to its tannins in the finish. Drink 2026-2040.”
- 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck (2/18/2026)
“Giacomo Bartolommei typically avoids producing a Riserva in the hottest years, meaning we will have three vintages in succession of his old-vine parcel selection to enjoy. The second of the trio, 2019 dials up the intensity and vivacity. Pronounced aromas of tarragon, allspice and star anise persist enticingly. Ripe red berries pop between layers of compact chalky tannins. This boasts its signature saltiness which seems to amplify the sweet mandarin finish. Though there are no rough edges, the latest release of AdAlberto should be tucked away to allow all the facets of its personality to develop. Drinking Window: 2027 - 2037.”
- 95 Points, Decanter (11/12/2024)
