(10/2023) Hugo Matray crafts this rugged, rustic, deliciously forward red from 40-plus-year-old Gamay vines grown in granite soils on their estate. Deep, rich and charismatic, it is simply an unreal value at sixteen bucks. That’s what Cru Beaujolais used to sell for like 15 years ago! Grippy, with dark cherry, red flower and black rock flavors, this is a complete wine with a medium-frame structure, tannins and acidity just where you hope to find them.
