What We Think
Vin Chicago: 89 Points
(8/2025) Over the last several years, California winemaker Andrew Jones has made dozens of fun, yummy, and affordable wines that Vin Chicago customers and staff have loved including Field Recordings, Fiction, Wonderwall, Skins, and Fableist to name a few favorites. Not long ago, Andrew tried his hand in Oregon, crafting this Chardonnay under the 'American Recordings' moniker. Presented in a clear bottle, this wine shows a deep straw yellow. At four years of age, it was slightly suss looking to us at first...and then we tasted it. Woah! This impressive white wine could easily pass for a Macon-Village, with neutral fruits, a rounded palate, hints of minerality and a zip on the end. Incredibly, a day after opening, the wine reveals even more with pear, lemon, yellow apple, subtle white flowers, and leesy suggetions of honey and almond. It's a damn solid wine with an old world edge and plenty of life ahead. At our blowout price, it's an absolute Chardonnay winner that's worthy of a case purchase!
