Importer's Notes
Ron Viejo is an extremely rare rum obtained from the distillation of molasses from sugarcane and then aged in ex-sherry casks. The origin of Ron Viejo dates back to 1940. In 1940, Valdespino imported a special lot of the purest Cuban rum and established a very old and limited rum solera. Over decades, this solera has been topped up with selected Panama (70%) and Dominican Republic (30%) rums. The casks originally contained extremely old oloroso sherry. Solera: 35 butts of very old rum. Batch Quantity: 3,000 bottles. Tasting Notes: The Ron Viejo has mature oak notes with a sherry background, smooth honey, orange peel, dried fruits, and spices. Complex citrus notes on the palate mix with spices, oak, and caramel.
