(10/29/2024) The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Legend is more Mourvèdre-dominated and is based on 70% Mourvèdre and 30% Grenache that was destemmed and brought up mostly in demi-muids, with smaller amounts in foudre and a tiny percentage in new barrels. Its slightly deeper ruby hue is followed by a classic Mourvèdre nose of spiced red and black fruits, peppery garrigue, and crushed stone, and it shows more sappy floral nuances with air. This medium-bodied, silky, elegant, incredibly polished 2022 is going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and shine over the following decade. There are a scant 83 cases produced.
