(1/2024) Blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a wee bit of Petit Verdot, this medium-opaque, purple-ruby colored red is taut when first poured, showing rustic tobacco, herbs, cedar and gritty earth flavors. With exposure to lots of air - we're talking about several hours in a big decanter - this young red opens to reveal welcoming flavors of currant, cassis, red plum, and black cherry. In the mouth, this dusty, soulful, medium-bodied Bordeaux gives soft tannins supported by wonderful freshness. At 13.5% ABV, it is a perfect wine at the table, with anything from grilled burgers to sausage and peppers or even meaty fish preparations.
