What Critics Think
Vinous - Eric Guido : 92 Points
(11/2021) The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino is undeniably pretty and sweetly scented, featuring crushed strawberries dusted in confectionary spice and hints of clove and dried roses. Its textures are like crushed velvet, smooth and elegant, yet with a slightly fleshy feel, as ripe red fruits and inner florals effortlessly wash across the palate. A subtle coating of rounded tannins lingers through the licorice-tinged finale, as inner violet tones swirl and residual acids keep the mouth watering for more. This may be a far cry from the classic lines and structure of the typical Tenuta San Giorgio Brunello, but it's also a total pleasure to taste. Production was down by 40% here to maintain the integrity of the wine, particularly due to a severe selection among the vines. Drinking Window 2024 - 2027.

(12/5/2021) Lots of ripe plum and fresh flowers on the nose follow through to a full body with layers of fruit and polished yet chewy tannins. Sort of dusty texture. Flavorful and delicious. Transparent. Drink now. 92/100 - Wine Spectator (6/30/2022) Tightly wound, this red evokes cherry, raspberry, plum, iron and tobacco flavors, with a solid tannic spine giving this support and a firm grip on the lingering finish. Tips a wee bit to the tannins in overall harmony, yet this is complex and long. Best from 2025 through 2042.
