(5/5/2022) Submitted as a barrel sample, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Unnamed Cuvee is all whole-bunch Grenache from 90-year-old vines being aged in older demi-muids. It's a compelling effort, combining hints of peppermint, raspberries and cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate (16.9% alcohol) seems almost ethereal, with silky swirls of ripe stone fruit that finish long and mouthwatering. Exciting potential, that's for sure.
