Florez Wines "Shangra-Li Mendo Savvy-B" Upton Vineyard Redwood Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2023
I love everything about this wine. The bootstrapping story of the one man show founder, the obscure single vineyard geography, the wacky label, and, most importantly, the tangy, delicious "natural" flavors and energy of the juice in the bottle.
Domaine Pertuizet Beaujolais Lantignie 2022
One of our highlights visiting France this year was tasting the wines from young Anais Pertuizet, and walking her blue granite rock filled vineyard that this wine came from. She's in her mid-20's, with all the passion and grit the best young winemakers possess, and this juicy, authentic red is wonderful, especially with chicken or game bird.
Domaine de Pieblanc "Les Terres" Gigondas 2022
The ripe fruited power of quality Southern Rhône reds loved for providing opulent pleasure. Sometimes, we find exceptional examples, at friendly prices, that also give stirring authenticity, with a soulfulness that inspire us to espouse loving praise. This is one of those wines! As good as any $50 Chateauenuf!
Yann Alexandre "Roche Mere" Brut Nature Champagne (2016 Base) NV
Like most in the wine business, I love grower Champagne, and so does my wife, which is why it is nearly impossible to keep these delicious wines in our house - they disappear faster than Girl Scout cookies. I'm grateful for the tiny importer that introduced us to the Yann Alexandre wines, just 4 years ago. These are profoundly delicious sparklers, and the last bit of stock we have on this "Roche Mere" is one of my favorite in stock bubblies!
Artuke Rioja 2022
Artuke is crafting amazing high end Rioja reds, but they're also making my current favorite inexpensive bottling. This juicy and lively Tempranillo, at just over 10 bucks, is a perfect everyday winner.
