(6/2026) The 2023 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru is matured in used 500-litre barrels and amphora for the first 12 months, then for the same amount of time in foudres. This is more backward on the nose compared to the Vau de Vey, opening with linseed and orange pith scents and a touch of incense. The deeper you go, the more you find. The palate is beautifully balanced with a silver thread of acidity. Tensile and focused, with a gentle grip, there is a slight passion fruit/guava element in its final third, a twist of sour lemon enlivening the aftertaste. Wonderful.
