(5/2025) A blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Verdelho and Roussanne, the 2023 Empire Strikes Back is Pieter Walser's go at making a Swartland-style wine in Stellenbosch. He absolutely nailed it. With loads of fleshy lychee, peach, and plum on the palate, and a touch of Rhône-like oiliness to make thing even more interesting, this wine is a total bombshell. 2023 Empire Strikes Back clocks in at 13% ABV, a touch lighter than previous vintages, which allows some really cool subtleties to be on full display as you progress through the bottle. We'll keep it simple: this is awesome juice!
