(3/2026) Domaine Taupenot-Merme has a passionate collection of Burgundy lovers constatnly seeking out their small production bottlings, which is challenging, simply because there is very little wine to be had. Romain Taupenot is the ninth generation to run this family domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis, and along with his sister Virginie, organically farms an enviable collection Premier and Grand Cru vineyayds in Gevrey, Morey and this wine from the oft overlooked commune of Auxey-Duresses. Hailing from two Premier Cru sites, Les Duresses and Les Grands Champs, totalling just .6 hectares of PInot Noir vines, the oldest planted over 70 years ago, this pure and complex wine is delicious. The '22 vintage produced a generous, flavorful red, dense with cherry fruit, clay and limestone minerals, a silky texture and a long, lovely finish.
