What Critics Think
Decanter : ["93" Points
(5/19/2024) From proprietors Bill Foley and Carol Johnson's Rutherford Estate, 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec, and 2% Cabernet Franc are aged 18 months in French and American oak, 40% of which is new. This is a very fine and rather classic expression of the 2021 vintage, with ample and concentrated dark berry fruits and pronounced yet refined tannins. Sweet tobacco, rich and toasty graham cracker crust, and hints of mocha layer in nuance. Fresh and inviting and one of the best value wines of the entire vintage.
Wine Spectator : 92 Points
(7/31/2024) A solid version, with plum pâte de fruit, black cherry reduction and boysenberry paste flavors that form the core. The frankly toasty finish has nice cut, flanked by apple wood and licorice root notes. Best from 2025 through 2037. 3,000 cases made.
James Suckling : 93 Points
(1/27/2024) A luscious, chocolaty aroma comes from partly American oak barrels for some coconut and vanilla tones over lavish dark plum and blackberry flavors. The texture is velvety smooth but firmed up by fine-grained tannins. Drink or hold.
