(5/2023) Former French military pilot, Vigneron Jean-Michel Guillon arrived to Burgundy as a complete outsider a few decades ago. He learned who the best vigneron in town was, Henri Jayer, and convinced the master to teach him a thing or two. Jean-Michel went about building a few rows of vines into a respectable collection of prime real estate. Raised in 100% new Piece barrels, a la his famed mentor, JM and his son Alexi craft these old vines into something glorious, especially in the abundant 2018 vintage. Plush and sexy, with dark red berry fruits intertwined with intoxicating spiced florals, this ageworthy red is deeply impressive. It's no surprise that this domaine's star is rising so quickly. We visited his cellar last year, so you're getting in with us on the ground floor still - the only way to find real value today in Burgundy. These are excellent wines!
