Vin Chicago: 94 Points
(1/2023) A blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier from Julien's vineyards in the Cote Brune and Cote Blonde, this Northern Rhone red is a beautiful example of Cote-Rotie. Totally opaque in the glass, it pops with black olive, smoke, cured meat and coffee, with gobs of blackberry, black raspberry and black cherry fruits. Dense, layered and full-bodied, it offers medium plus tannins, medium plus acidity and a balanced, warming finish. Impressive when first poured and paired with soy-marinated flank steak, we found the second day to be even more spicy, sexy and complex.
