(5/2023) A special red here from Domaine la Cabotte's holdings in the Massif d'Uchaux, a unique subregion west of Cairanne and Rasteau whose unique high-elevation limestone and sand soils grant it higher status than a regular Cotes du Rhone. Low-yielding, hand-harvested, certified organic Grenache and Syrah vines offer refinement and elegance. Layered with flavors of fresh and very ripe dark red berries, coffee, smoke, olive and black pepper, there is mouth-filling opulence and an overall experience of elegance and balance. Lengthy and delicious, it finishes with more minerality than typical for a sub-$20 Southern Rhone red.
