(10/10/2024) The 2022 Syrah My Friend Matt's Vineyard, is the more New World-leaning of the two Whitcraft Syrah offerings, although it is still quite classic in style. It leads with a dark-fruited, meaty, savory nose that suggests a Northern Rhône wine, whereas the Escolle bottling shouts it. The texture is more on the velvety, sumptuous side, finishing on a brighter, flashy and more energetic note with solid acidity and mellow, integrated tannins. Drink Date: 2024 - 2030.
