What We Think
Vin Chicago: 90 Points
(3/2026) Far from "basic" this freshly-arrived, substantive rosé from an eighth-generation family winery delivers a deeper-colored Loire Valley pink from 30-year-old vines of 100% Malbec, known locally as "Côt". Located upriver about 20 miles east of Tours, Xavier Frissant farms organically and makes a range of interesting expressions from their 15 hectares. This offers good intensity with strawberry-rhubarb preserves, talc, grapefruit pith, chalk and blueberry skin - we think it can handle light mains like grilled octopus, swordfish steak with capers or a fruity chicken tagine.
