Vin Chicago: 90 Points
(10/2026) As is the case with wine, quality Brandy starts in the vineyard. Just as with the great producers of Cognac, the Mascaró family organically farms their Ugni Blanc vines to produce their Brandy, beloved by the barkeeps of Barcelona. It’s crafted via the same Charentais method of Cognac, cooked in copper pot stills then double-distilled before aging in 300 liter French oak barrels for at least five years. Full of dried pear, apricot, lemon peel, hazelnut, white flowers, green raisin, and milk chocolate notes, this is an extremely well-made, agile brandy that is easy to drink with grace. Sip it, or substitute it where you would use a lighter Cognac or Armagnac. Want some fun ideas? Trifásico, Brandy Highball, or a Brandy Old-Fashioned.
