(11/2023) Disgorged in October 2020, this bottling of the H. Goutorbe "Cuvée Prestige" Champagne is a classic blend of 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier from the family's Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards in and around the village of Aÿ. Using fruit from the delicious 2016 vintage along with a full 25% reserve juice from prior years, it was allowed to age on the lees for well over 36 months. Round and frothy, this tantalizingly toasty Champagne leads off with notes of apple, pear, raspberry and dried strawberry, followed by beautiful complexities of cinnamon brioche, toasted almonds and salted caramel. It is a charming wine with a real sense of place.
