What Critics Think
Vinous - Antonio Galloni : 94 Points
(9/2021) The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Bugialla is a bold, dramatic wine. Ample and generous in feel, the 2018 wraps around the palate with serious density that continues to build through to the finish. Black cherry, mocha, lavender, licorice and spice fill out the layers. This is an especially rich, heady style for Radda, and it works so well. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2038.
Decanter : 94 Points
(3/26/2021) A selection of the smallest bunches from the estate’s oldest plot, Poggerino’s Riserva sees a long 50-day maceration and ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. It emerges from its shell with beguiling aromas of cedar, sandalwood, iron, smoke and wet stone, evoking the rocky, forest-encircled estate high up in Radda. The palate packs ample concentration with a sweet ripeness to the fruit and silky suppleness to the layered tannins. Youthful exuberance is currently masking its more subtle charms, but it shouldn’t take long to mellow into its groove. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030.
