What Critics Think
Decanter : 91 Points
(3/31/2023) Ghizzano's historic red, first produced in 1985, this blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon from old vines is fermented with indigenous yeasts in 30hl open-top oak vats, then matured for 16 months in 500l oak barrels followed by 14 months in bottle. This 2019 features a concentration of funky wild berries and spice, lovely texture, subtle tannins and balancing acidity. Its a bit one-dimensional at present, but give it more time and you'll be rewarded. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2031.

(6/21/2023) Black cherries, bark, tobacco and olives on the nose. Creamy and medium-bodied with dark fruit accompanied by mellowed tannins, leading to a mineral, pleasantly tarry finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold.
