(3/18/2025) Also tasted, the medium red 2018 Tenuta Di Valgiano is forward in the glass and quite expressive on the nose, with notes of fresh leather, redcurrants, wild herbs, and sanguine earth. The palate is elegant and medium to full-bodied, with refined tannins, even acidity, and good ripeness through the finish. It’s drinking beautifully now and should continue to hold up nicely over the coming 10-12 years. Maturity: 2025 - 2037.

(8/2023) The 2018 Tenuta di Valgiano is a big, potent wine. A burst of dark wild cherry opens rst, followed by complicating notes of tobacco, smoke, leather, incense and earthiness. The 2018 is a bit wild and rough around the edges, but it certainly has a ton of character. I would drink it at the dinner table, preferably with a similarly hearty fare. Drinking window: 2025 - 2036.

(8/8/2023) Dusty and earthy nose with a muddled complexity that centers about earth funk, peppercorn, old leather and bark. Some dark cherries, too. Even and medium-bodied on the palate with a nice, traditional touch to the fluid, mid-palate. Tannins are refined and caressing. Already very approachable.
