(9/2025) Santa Barbara winemaker Drake Whitcraft has developed a seriously loyal following for his naturally styled wines. The wines are delicious, but not cheap. We were thrilled to taste this special one-off bottling from Drake, not only because of the Tribe reference, but because the juice in the bottle is deliciously pure! This makes sense when you consider this is really just a Whitcraft cellar pick, from declassified juice, all from Sanford & Benedict, Rindonda and Pence vineyards! Pouring a pale strawberry red, it immediately smells like a Whitcraft wine! Sour cherry, wild raspberry, medium bodied, texured, taut, grippy and bright, it drinks like hipster Central Coast whole cluster Pinot meets a solid Beaune lieu dit. Very juicy, but with soul, an impressive structure and a thrist quenching yum, all under 30 bucks!
