(1/2024) Michel Genet has become a fast favorite at Vin Chicago, and the yumminess has turned up even more with this 2017. From Chouilly - the most northerly Grand Cru village of the Cote des Blancs - this 100% Chardonnay, finished with an 8g/L dosage, is a ripe, soft, supple Champagne that doesn't disappoint. It is deeply colored, with notes of grilled citrus, yellow apple, butterscotch, brioche and toasted hazelnut. This is a seriously broad, rich Blanc de Blanc with enough gravitas to carry a white meat main course or to balance a weighty double-cream French cheese.
