What We Think
Vin Chicago: 95 Points
(11/2025) The famed traditionalist artisan atop Spring Mountain, Philip Togni, has once again bottled what is agruably Napa Valleys' greatest "second wine", Tanbark HIll. Crafted by Lisa Togni, the '22 Tanbark is a gorgeous bottle of estate grown mountain Cabernet delivering Bordeaux-like flavors, with an elegant structure reserved for the best of the old school best. Cassis, blackberry and spice notes are accented by savory olive, tobacco and mushroom earth, suported by a soft feel and a gutsy structure. This wine drinks like a classed St. Julien. As Napa lovers, we are very grateful that the Togni's do what they do - so much soul and character here. Drinkable now and over the next 15 years!
What Critics Think
Whisky Advocate : 94+ Points
(10/2/2025) The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Tanbark Hill Vineyard comes from blocks planted on slightly richer soils that have traditionally yielded more forward wines. Just about 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage is a bit more robust than prior vintages, with the concentration and tannins to carry it at least 20 years. Sage and cedar accent blueberries on the nose, while the velvety-textured palate is vibrant and fresh, with a cascade of raspberries and cherries on the lingering finish. Drink Date: 2030 - 2045.
