What We Think
Vin Chicago: 92+ Points
(5/2026) Stoplman Vineyard, located in Santa Barbara County’s Ballard Canyon AVA, features vines planted on dramatic limestone and seabed outcroppings. These high-density plantings are biodynamically dry farmed resulting in very intense wines that express the unique terroir of this special site and this 2022 Roussanne bottling from Jaffurs is a prime example. Notes of green pear and ripe peach are met with a bitter citrus pith, dried white flowers, crushed white pepper and river stone minerality. The mouthfeel is plump, round, and grippy with a bright streak of acidity providing exquisite balance. Delicious and easy drinking, you can enjoy it all on its own or pair it up with a lemon and herb roasted chicken, buttery seafood, or a simple summer salad with grilled peaches.

(8/15/2024) The 2022 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard offers a more savory profile, with ripe orchard fruits, toasted bread, blanched almond, and sappy flower nuances. It's beautifully balanced, has a layered, seamless mouthfeel, remarkable purity, and a great finish. It's a terrific example of the variety.

(7/2024) The 2022 Roussanne Stolpman Vineyard is another terrific wine from Jaffurs. Hints of apricot, chamomile, orange peel and spice open first. Creamy and textured, with tons of depth, the 2022 is beautifully done. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2028.
