What Critics Think
Vinous - Joaquin Hidalgo : 91 Points
(12/2023) The 2019 Crianza is 100% Tempranillo sourced from San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Abalos, Rioja Alta. Aged for 14 months in used American and French barrels (50/50), this purple wine showcases aromas of blackberry and blueberry, with hints of vanilla and coconut against an oak backdrop. Dry and juicy, the grippy palate lingers with a chalky texture, presenting a balanced expression of Rioja. Drinking Window: 2024 - 2034.
James Suckling : 91 Points
(4/24/2023) A juicy and berry-oriented Rioja with a stony edge to the black cherries and plums. Firm, bright and pretty succulent on the palate with medium body. Well-balanced even though it is not complex. Drink now.
Wine Enthusiast : 91 Points
(4/1/2024) Aromas of black currant and sauteed portobello mushroom lead the way for cassis, blackberry, charcuterie, black-olive paste, smoke, dried thyme and caramel flavors. While the flavor profile leans towards savory rather than fruit-dominant, sturdy tannins and well-balanced acidity make for a nice pour.
Wine Spectator : 90 Points
(7/31/2023) A balanced, medium-bodied red, with firm, fine tannins providing plush texture, revealing a fresh mix of ripe red and black cherry, Mediterranean herb, red licorice and vanilla notes. Spiced finish. Drink now through 2029. 15,000 cases made, 4,000 cases imported.
