(11/11/2024) There's an enticing, brambly overtone of floral and herb notes to this lively red, with well-meshed tannins providing pleasing tension and focus to flavors of blackberry paste, plum cake and Kalamata olive, plus a tang of blood orange peel. An anise, cardamom, graphite and mineral skein is a fragrant display that lingers on the persistent finish. Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional. Drink now through 2032. 2,580 cases made, 250 cases imported.

(2/7/2025) Violets, crushed stones and subtle licorice on the nose. The palate is medium- to full-bodied and juicy, with succulent fruit, polished tannins and an elegant finish. This is made from different old field blends planted in Cima Corgo, Vale de Mendiz and Pinhao. Drink or hold.

(4/17/2025) The creamy and juicy red 2022 Pintas Character was produced with field blends from old vineyards, fermented in lagar, foot trodden and matured in used French oak barrels for 18 months. A velvety, spicy and showy modern Douro red showing the character of the year but with a contained 13.5% alcohol and balancing acidity. It shows no heat at all. It's drinking well already. 29,000 bottles. It was bottled in June 2024. Drink Date: 2025 - 2029.
