(4/2024) Located on the north side of the commune, adjacent to Grands Epenots and Pezerolles, Les Argillieres is one of Pommard's famed Premier Cru vineyards. Raised in traditional oak barrique, 20% new, this young Pinot Noir honors the Pommard style, leading with a serious structure and notes of clay-limestone earth. It becomes quite expressive as it breathes, revealing subtle notes of baking spice, ripe cherry, wild dark berry, rose petal, savory spice and white stones. It is chewy and deep, with varied earth, floral and dark red fruit flavors sneaking out from behind the authentic structure. There is tempting accessibility here, but like all great Burgundy, it needs time. This wine will hit its stride in another 3 to 4 years and continue developing nicely over the next 8 to 15 years and beyond.
