What Critics Think
Decanter : 97 Points
(8/17/2025) A savoury complexity emerges in the White Walnut, immediately with purple florals, lilac, juniper, and green tea leaf, alongside wild strawberries. It’s all about savoury notes throughout the palate, with a delicious complexity driven by forest floor, mint, salt, and earth. A red-fruited dynamo with ample savoury depth coming right off of Chris Mazepink's original White Walnut estate on the eastern-facing flanks of the Dundee Hills, tucked among walnut trees just below the Drouhin estate. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2038.

(12/4/2025) From vines planted in 2015, the 2023 Pinot Noir White Walnut Vineyard has kaleidoscopic scents of black plum, pomegranate, rose petals, lichen and bitters—with every return to the glass, compelling new aromas emerge. Despite its tremendous concentration, the full-bodied palate is silky, seamless and vibrant, and it has a very long, spice-laced finish. It will gain savory complexity in bottle over the next 15–20 years. Drink Date: 2028 - 2045.

(8/26/2025) Pouring a vivid ruby with subtle purple tones, the 2023 Pinot Noir White Walnut Vineyard shows lifted red fruit character alongside violets, dusty earth, and fresh herbs. The wine glides across the palate with purity and finesse, supported by fine tannins and genuine depth that unfolds over time. Savory notes of truffle and earth build in the glass. A superb Pinot Noir with energy and staying power, drink 2026-2040.
James Suckling : 97 Points
(3/13/2025) A robust, concentrated and firmly structured wine that’s laced with black cherries and dried blueberries on firm, fine-grained tannins. Made from heritage and suitcase clones of pinot noir that give extra weight and density along with an age-worthy structure. It’s deep, dark and long-lasting on the finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2029.
