(9/2023) Another outstanding effort from this small northeastern Italian co-op. Classic varietal flavors of apple and white peach, with pepper, radish and green bean. Fleshy, juicy and forward while maintaining bright acidity. This Italian Gruner is tough to beat the price. Try it with fall and winter soups!

(3/2022) The 2021 Gruner Veltliner wafts up remarkably fresh and airy, mixing crushed stone with minty herbs and hints of chlorophyll. It’s deeply textural, almost oily in feel, yet salty and savory as well, resulting in a sensation of umami within. Tart green apple and mineral tones linger incredibly long as the 2021 tapers off lightly-structured yet fresh. While this could use a little more time to develop aromatically, it’s full of short-term cellar potential. Drinking Window: 2023 - 2028.
