(6/2024) This young red has an enticingly showy profile with intense aromatics that excited our tasters. Dark red berries, late spring red florals, minerals, and earth abound, and even more is lurking below. Give your wine some air, and a joyous mouthful of fleshy black cherry, Asian spice, and forest flavors will emerge, with truffle, wet leaves, and redwood moss accenting the wild dark berry finish. The well of flavors here is very deep, layered, and quite fantastic. Of all the 2021 Cellier aux Moines reds we’ve tasted, this Volnay is far and away the most sophisticated and complex, and it will continue to impress and develop for at least another 15+ years.
