(7/31/2022) The Clos Jus from Francois Lumpp seemed surprisingly old-fashioned in the 2017 vintage. There was an earthy character that was not at all unpleasant but lacked a bit of the fleshy, juicy primary fruit of the vintage. The texture was soft, supple, and approachable. There was reasonable length, balance, and complexity, but it is not a wine to overwhelm. This wine has a surprising amount of tertiary aromas for a wine this young. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2030.
