What Critics Think

Wine Enthusiast : 91 Points

(7/1/2022) Despite being Yalumba's entry-level Viognier, this is one of its most delicious white offerings. Highly aromatic, it wafts a perfume of honeysuckle, orchard blossom and fuzzy peach skin. The palate is more viscous than the nose implies, but there's enough acidity to keep it fresh. Peach and lemon flavors linger on the finish. Drink with Thai curry or a similarly bold Southeast Asian dish. Best Buy.

James Suckling : 91 Points

(9/29/2021) This has bright, ripe peach and apricot aromas with bright, floral perfume. There’s a very pure, ripe-apricot core to the palate and smoothly fleshy texture. Works well. Drink now. Screw cap.

Decanter : 90 Points

(7/31/2022) I’m impressed by this wine. I’ve seen it on offer for 7.50 and even at the regular sub ten pound price, it is a belter for the cash from the masters of Viognier Down Under. Hats off to Yalumba for making such a statement with this entry-level Viognier. It’s got all the peach-skin, honeysuckle fragrance required and much more. Silkiness gives it a real sense of harking back to summer days and in the teeth of winter it’s exactly what I want in my glass to sip with a gentle spicy Thai recipe. It’s also fantastic with seasonal roasted veg. From a warm summer vintage with cool nights, this wild ferment wine has a certain apricot vitality. It’s by no means warming in the sense of feeling like you’ve just embraced a radiator, but as the harbinger of heady summer scents, it’ll give your mind a welcome reminder of fruit in sunbeams.

Vinous - Josh Raynolds : 90 Points

(9/2022) Limpid straw-yellow. Sharply defined citrus and pit fruit aromas pick up floral and spice accents with air. Juicy and light on its feet, offering sappy white peach, tangerine and melon flavors that deepen slowly through the back half. Finishes long and silky, with lingering floral and spicy ginger notes. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2025.
