(8/1/2022) Plenty of sweet blackberries and saline blackcurrants on the nose and palate, with hints of herbs, such as rosemary and green tobacco leaves. Medium-bodied with the same savory tinges to the fruit. Fine tannins add a bit of structure midway and the fruit rides through to the end, together with a twist of cocoa powder. Merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Nicely balanced and pleasant to drink now.

(12/2022) The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot Brentino is impossible to ignore. White pepper offsets an alluring mix of crushed raspberries and lavender. This is like pure silk, communicating elegance and refinement, with wild berry fruits and purple-toned inner florals that drench the palate, lifted by a core of brisk acidity. The 2020 comes across as more immediate than past vintages, finishing with medium-length yet only lightly structured while leaving a hint of licorice to linger on. The Brentino continues to be a remarkable value. Drinking Window: 2023 - 2028.
