What Critics Think
Wine Spectator : 96 Points
(2/28/2025) There's a lot to love in this ethereal red, with stunning purity and allure. The perfumed nose is marked by black fruit, pepper, smoked bacon and tobacco, with smoky oolong tea in the backdrop. Concentrated yet doesn't feel weighed down, with fine, chalky tannins landing the finish, which stretches out in effortless harmony and reveals earthy tugs of tar and juniper. Its beautiful suppleness makes this approachable now, but this will also go the distance in the cellar. Drink now through 2040. 105 cases imported.

(12/5/2024) A classic wine from this terroir, the 2022 Gigondas Le Claux has a beautiful ruby/purple hue as well as textbook notes of ripe red and black fruit, graphite, camphor, and savory herbs. It's wonderfully balanced, full-bodied, has ripe, polished tannins, and a beautiful sense of elegance and purity.

(7/31/2025) This has an enjoyably earthy aromatic display with peppery herbs underneath. Soft and juicy, with more herbal notes, bay leaf and oregano on the palate. This is followed by berry acidity, and quite firm tannins. There’s a lot going on here, juicy fruit and good length. It finishes on almond, black pepper and new leather. Whole-bunch fermented, 20% new oak. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2034.

(10/1/2025) Fresh aromas of dark cherry, black licorice, tarragon, cedar, and underbrush create a deeply earthy nose. Full-bodied and concentrated, the palate offers dark cherry, beef bouillon, cocoa nib, and licorice, finishing with bitter tea leaf and pulverized stone. Voluminous and luxurious, this wine needs time and will cellar well through 2035+.
