Vin Chicago: 89 Points
(5/2026) Guanamé is a fourth generation ranch in Guanajuato, Mexico. Since 2011 Alejandro Torres has planted this estate of both extreme latitude and elevation (5900 feet!). This blend of 60% Malbec, 20% Syrah, 15% Tempranillo and 5% Merlot is a good testament to his choices. In tasting blind, we found a wine that presented with the qualities of a gutsy country southern French red, in the vein of Corbieres. With notes of dried cherry, red currant, smoke, tapenade, peppered elk jerky and some scorched earth - it has a good harmony of savory elements with its fruit. Its structure is commendable with good length, fresh acidity and fine polished tannin that go down easy. For the table!
