Cape Point Vineyards "Noordhoek" Cape Town Sauvignon Blanc 2017

91 Vinous, Neal Martin
(8/2018) "The 2017 Noordhoek Sauvignon Blanc, from the Cape Point estate, carries the new name for what was hitherto Cape Point Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc. As such, it has the "Cape Town" Wine of Origin designation. This comes from selected parcels on the estate, blended with 3% Semillon, and saw eight months lees contact. The bright, vivid bouquet features fresh green apple, kiwi fruit and Conference pear aromas that are well defined. The palate is well balanced with bright fresh green apple, pear, gooseberry and light citric notes, a fine bead of acidity and good length on the finish. Very fine. Drink now and over the next five or six years. Drinking Window: 2018 - 2026."

(6/1/2017) "Editors' Choice" - "One of the top wines from this producer, this blend of at least 10 grape varieties comes from its estate. The wood aging has added sophistication to this already concentrated wine. With black fruits to the fore and firm tannins, it will age well. Drink from 2019."

(12/15/2018) "Distinctive, with a fresh note of spearmint complementing the juicy core of plum and blackberry flavors. Herb, chai tea and cigar box elements linger on the long, expressive finish, where the tannins firm up but never get in the way. Drink now through 2035." (Australia)

(3/2019) The famed dessert wine of the Rhone Valley is made by adding Brandy to a 7% alcohol Southern Rhone Muscat, which not only arrests fermentation but yields a deliciously balanced sweetness and a new 15% alcoholic power. A wonderfully unique treat in the world of slightly sweet dessert wines, and a total steal at our reduced price!

Espelt "Old Vines" Emporda Garnacha 2015

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $9.99!

(3/2017) Our favorite value Garnacha from the northeast corner of Spain is back and it is super delicious! Purply-pink in the glass, the vines for this wine average 95 years in age and are certified organic. Very fresh with a lifted grapey beginning, the wine is deeper than initially suspected, with dark red berry fruit and medium tannins. Winemaker Anna Espelt has delivered another outrageous value.

Evodia Aragon Garnacha 2016

89 Wine Advocate
91 Jeb Dunnuck
(2/21/2018) "Another project between Eric Solomon and the Roussillon's Jean-Marc Lafage, the 2016 Evodia comes from higher elevation vineyards and is mostly Garnacha (there's 5% Syrah) aged in a mix of tank and demi-muids. This deep ruby/purple colored is a gorgeous, naked expression of Grenache that just knocks it out of the park. Blackberries, blueberries, pepper, licorice and hints of asphalt all emerge from this plump, sexy, opulent, and shockingly concentrated wine that has incredible charm and character. It's the best 10-dollar bottle of wine I've tasted in years."

Gryphon Crest Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Riesling 2016

90 Wine Enthusiast
(2/2018). "A blend of fruit from both the Saar and the middle Mosel (vineyards surrounding Piesport and Bernkastel) this lovely value Riseling darts and dances on the palate with Margarita-like kicks of salt and lime. Just a shade off dry, its delicate sweetness lends balance to zesty acidity and a cool, mineral finish. Best Buy."
