Scholar and Mason Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Winemaker's Notes
"The Cabernet is sourced from vineyards located on opposite ends of the Napa Valley. The majority of the blend hails from Yountville, located on the North side. The remaining portion comes from Calistoga on the South end of the valley. The Scholar & Mason Cabernet Sauvignon is aromatically expressive with notes of dark cherries, ripe plum, menthol and pencil shavings. The structure is supple and generous with long, elegant tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is concentrated with currant, dark forest fruit, charcuterie and cedar spice."

Stony Brook Vineyards "Ovidius" Franschhoek Tempranillo 2014

A toasty, unique offering that is reminscent of quality Reserva-level Ribera del Duero!
Winemaker's Notes
"Long elevage in first and second-use French Oak. Intense cherry tobacco aromas and dark, ripe black fruit are immediately present on the nose, followed by sweet spice, nutmeg and a touch of oak. There is a definite black cherry character on the palate that rounds off the fine, silky tannins and plush, ripe fruit finish."

La Chenade Lalande-de-Pomerol 2016

93 Jeb Dunnuck
92 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(1/2019) "The 2016 La Chenade offers a striking interplay of sweet red berry/plum fruit, blood orange, mint and exotic spice. Cabernet Franc aromatics are super-expressive in this pliant, mid-weight Lalande de Pomerol, with rose petal, star anise and savory herb overtones that emerge in the glass. La Chenade shows just how appealing 2016 is, even among humbler appellations. The 2016 is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc."

Matthiasson California Rose 2018

Winemaker's Notes
"Our 2018 Rose was made from a combination of Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre, and Counoise from the Windmill vineyard in the Dunnigan Hills, and Syrah grapes from the Hurley Vineyard in Napa Valley. Its citrusy aromas and clean flavors will complement the wonderful spring foods that show up on the table as the weather thaws (salads, rabbit, frittatas, peas, favas, green garlic...). The blend this year is 44% Syrah, 26% Grenache, 25% Mouvedre, and 5% Counoise."

R. Lopez de Heredia "Vina Cubillo" Crianza Rioja 2010

93 Wine Advocate
95 James Suckling
(7/4/2019) "Cubillo is a very focused and quite crisp style of red that has spent three years in barrique and then in larger cask to wait for bottling, which happens two years before the expected release. The richness and depth of complex dried wood and spice here is seamlessly sewn into the dried red and dark cherries. The palate is pinned around a fresh-blackberry core that marries still sweet fruit to more savory style. Long and balanced. The tannins are fine yet assertive. It freshens into the finish nicely. Drink or hold."

Domaine Roger Neveu "Cote des Embouffants" Sancerre 2018

90+ Our Score
(8/2019) Neveu crafts this textbook Sancerre from 20 year old vines on the steep southern-facing slopes of the historical Cote des Embouffants vineyard. Flinty from the start, with waves of citrus and white floral aromas and flavors popping once the wine has a few minutes to breathe. Finishes with plus length and a harmonious energy. It is lovely to get such a pretty and authentic expression of Sancerre from a family estate for such an attractive price.

Bedrock Wine Co. "Ode to Lulu" California Old Vine Rose 2018

91 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(8/2019) "Limpid orange. Vibrant, mineral-tinged strawberry, cherry and floral scents, along with suggestions of orange pith and fresh herbs. Hefty red berry and bitter orange pith flavors show impressive clarity and a surprisingly light touch thanks to a core of juicy acidity. Finishes chewy and long, showing nervy tension and insistent red berry and floral notes."

Domaine Lionel Faury St. Joseph Blanc 2016

92 Our Score
91 Vinous, Josh Raynolds
(2/2018) "Pale gold. Penetrating aromas of tangerine, pear, white peach and fennel pick up chalky mineral and floral notes as the wine opens up. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering bitter pear skin and Meyer lemon flavors and a spicy snap of candied ginger. The mineral note repeats emphatically on the incisive, tightly focused finish, which hangs on with very good, spicy tenacity. Drinking window: 2019 - 2024"

G. D. Vajra "Clare J.C." Langhe Nebbiolo 2017

92 Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(5/2019) "Bright red. Explosively fruity aromas and flavors of red cherry, raspberry nectar, sweet spices and violet. At once big, dense and juicy, but vibrant, with a hint of aromatic perfume that is extremely inviting as is the underlying sweet spice component. So dark and red this is not likely to meet most people's idea of a Rose (this out-Cerasuolo's many Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo wines, traditionally by far Italy darkest pink wines); that said, this is absolutely delicious. I literally couldn't put my glass back down once I started tasting this."

90 Wine Enthusiast
(9/1/2018) "This is a beautifully balanced, medium-bodied wine that goes beyond the basic black-fruit flavors and adds hints of dried earth and bay leaf on the nose and light wood smoke and black pepper flavors. Moderate tannins and persistent acidity complete the picture."
