Bichi "La Santa" Tecate Moscatel Negro 2019
Winemaker's Notes
"Santa comes from very old and low-yielding, own-rooted Rosa del Peru (Moscatel Negro) vines grown at high elevation in Tecate. The grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented without temperature control in 450L concrete tinajas with 30 days of maceration, raised in a mix of steel tank and used French barrels over winter, and bottled without fining or filtration and only 10 ppm of added SO2. A lively and vertical vin de soif, Santa is almost rose colored in the glass, delicately floral, with red and dark fruits and juicy acidity. A lovely red wine to serve chilled with charcuterie and cheeses, duck breast or pork."

(10/2020) With grapes harvested from 1,300 feet of elevation in the Dolomites, this bright and high-toned wine makes you feel like you're on a fog-laden mountaintop. This Sauvignon Blanc is macerated for five days on the skins with indigenous yeast, then kept on the lees for twelve months in acacia barrels, yielding juice that strikes a lovely balance between fruit, texture and acidity. Aromas and flavors of lemon candy and pineapple are laid upon a limestone foundation accented by wisps of smoke with powdery tannins barely emerging on the medium-to-light-bodied finish. Only 2,000 bottles produced!

(6/2020) This blend of all three red varietals of the Savoie AOP (Gamay, Pinot Noir, Mondeuse) is harvested from clay and limestone soils, fermented with native yeast in steel tank and macerated whole-cluster for 15 days before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Pure and expressive with generously juicy ripe cherry and macerated raspberry backed up by wisps of smoke and crushed granite over fine tannins and a medium body, the Paroxysme is layered and sophisticated but imminently drinkable.

4 Monos "GR10" Vinos de Madrid Blanco 2018

(7/2020) 4 Monos is the moniker for four pals making incredible wine outside of Madrid, and they are particular champions of local varietal Albillo. The Gr10 Blanco is an Albillo-heavy blend (with co-stars Macabeo, Moscatel and Chelva) that is macerated whole-cluster, wild yeast fermented then left on the lees in neutral vessels for 6 months. The result is beautifully textured and round with aromas and flavors of pear nectar and papaya and notes of cheese rind on a limestone foundation. Its medium body is balanced by generous acidity and fruit, making it a knock-out for fans of Chablis or Savennieres.

Swick Wines "Deux Oeufs" Columbia Valley Marsanne 2019

(9/2020) Marsanne grown on sandy loam in Yakima at 1600 feet of elevation is fermented with 30 days of skin maceration using native yeast, then raised in two 700 liter concrete eggs for seven months. The result is a medium-bodied, enticingly aromatic orange wine with notes of apricot, orange tea, ginger and a touch of Creme Fraiche. With surprising acidity for Marsanne, the wine is juicy enough to balance the supple palate-weight and smooth tannin, making this another successful example of Swick's signature esoterica.

Christophe Lindenlaub "Matin Fou" Alsace Sylvaner 2018

(8/2020) Christophe Lindenlaub may be new to the scene locally, but his family has been producing wine in Alsace since the '70s and farming on their estate since the mid-1700s, and we cannot praise these creative, delicious wines enough. The Matin Fou is 100% Sylvaner from 20-year-old vines planted on limestone and clay soils. The grapes are macerated on skins for 2 days before fermentation with indigenous yeast followed by 8 months on the lees. Generous aromas and flavors of lemon, pear and key lime rind accompany a beautiful structure laid upon a solid mineral foundation, balanced by refreshing acidity. Impossible to put down.

Fermented 30% whole-cluster with indigenous yeasts and aged in neutral barrel for nine months, the wine is packed with aromas and flavors of ripe cherry and macerated strawberry, with layers of dried herbs and crushed rocks framed by fine tannins. Fans of bright and fresh styles of Pinot Noir will find this to be a great choice and will be further enticed by its notable depth of flavor.

(9/2020) An absolute treat, this semi-sweet sparkler is comprised of mostly Gamay with a bit of Poulsard and Chardonnay that finishes its primary fermentation in the bottle. Explosively fruity and incredibly drinkable with notes of raspberry, strawberry and black cherry cola accented by white and pink flowers, open this before dinner and you'll be ready for a second bottle with dessert.

Generously textured but light on its feet, its 9.5% alcohol makes for a perfect summer sipper. It's hard to conjure a more ideal pairing for oysters or grilled seafood.
