Descendientes des Palacios "Villa de Corullon" Bierzo 2015

94 James Suckling
95 Wine Advocate
(8/31/2017) "Ricardo Pérez Palacios told me his favorite overall vintages for Bierzo are 2001, 2012 and possibly 2015, because he sees them as very complete years, even if 2015 didn't have as perfect conditions as 2001 and 2012; the 2015 Corullón is a perfect example of that, a really pretty wine, open, where I see the similarities with 2012. They use many of the vineyards year after year, all of them around the village of Corullón, all planted with a field blend of varieties, and they have been increasing the percentage of white grapes from those vines that they include in the cuvée. In 2015, it can be almost 9%, mostly Palomino, and they feel it polishes that slight bitterness in the finish of the Mencía, reminiscent of green almonds. Of course, there are also other red grapes, like Alicante Bouschet, Gran Negro, Pan y Carne and Negreda, that might contribute to some 2% of the volume. 19,572 bottles, 720 half bottles, 450 magnums, 45 double magnums and 30 Jeroboams were filled between May 11th and 17th of 2017."

Donnhoff Oberhauser Brucke Riesling Spatlese 2016

95 Vinous, David Schildknecht
(4/2018) "The site-typical nose delivers a head-turningly fragrant rush of buddleia and heliotrope, while anticipating the juicy, piquant, crunchy fresh red raspberry, pit-inflected white peach and lime that dominate a silken, almost creamy, yet animatingly bright palate. Inner-mouth perfume rises seductively as fresh ginger adds incisive invigoration and an influx of quince reinforces the sense of richness. On one level, the finish is penetratingly bright and vibrantly animating, preserving invigoratingly piquant hints of seeds and pits. Yet simultaneously it seems to float with near-endless suspension into the ether, subtly echoing the complexities that went before and adding a mouthwatering hint of salinity."

Terlano "Vorberg" Alto Adige Riserva Pinot Bianco 2015

96 Vinous, Ian D'Agata
(12/2018) "Pale straw-gold. Beautiful nose of white stone fruit, lime, lemon verbena, beeswax and minerals; this is an absolutely captivating expression of Pinot Bianco at its best. Then similar flavors on the palate, but richer and riper than usual for this wine, with a long flavorful saline finish that offers repeating floral nuances. Pinot Bianco (Weissburgunder in German) does not get any better than this. Drink 2018 - 2033."

Fattoria Galardi "Terra di Lavoro" Campania Rosso 2015

New low price! Regular Vin Chicago retail - $49.99!
96 James Suckling
95 Wine Advocate
(12/7/2018) "The 2015 Terra di Lavoro is a blend of 80% Aglianico and 20% Piedirosso, although you most certainly get herbaceous or pyrazine-driven aromas of green spice and bitter coffee that recall the Cabernet family. Beyond those more pointedly aromatic components, the bouquet offers spice, sweet tobacco, blackberry fruit and dried cherry. The vines are now aged from 16 to 26 years old, and they are located at 450 meters above sea level in the volcanic soils of the extinct Roccamonfina volcano. This was a hot vintage that offers exuberant and opulent fruit, followed by structure and soft tannins. Some 30,000 bottles were produced. Drink 2019 - 2035."

Saint Jean Barroux "La Pierre Noire" Ventoux 2014

95 Jeb Dunnuck
(2/21/2018) "A total gem in the vintage, the 2014 La Pierre Noire is an insanely good wine made from 80/20 Grenache and Syrah that spent three years in concrete tanks. Black raspberries, kirsch, pepper, garrigue and liquid flowers notes all soar from the glass of this incredibly elegant, seamless, silky red that does everything right. With medium to full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin, no hard edges and a seamless texture, it's at the top of the heap in 2014. Don't miss a chance to try this beauty! Maturity: 2018 - 2030."

Knez Winery "Cerise Vineyard" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2014

95 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
(2/2016) "Dark red and purplish hued fruits, wild flowers, mint, spices and rose petal notes meld together in the 2014 Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard. The Cerise is deceptively medium in body, but it packs serious intensity. Expressive, floral-infused aromatics give the Cerise its inner sweetness and perfume, while beams of underlying tannin give the wine its shape. This is another superb wine from Knez. Drink 2017 - 2022."

Chateau Barde Haut St. Emilion 2015

93 Wine Spectator
95 James Suckling
95 Jeb Dunnuck
(10/15/2018) "Based on an 80/20 split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Barde-Haut is a tour de force and a spectacular wine any way you look at it. Creme de cassis, dried flowers, earth, and loads of limestone-like minerality all flow to a full-bodied, opulent wine that has sweet tannins and a great mid-palate. Drink this uber-sexy beauty any time over the coming 15+ years. Maturity 2018 - 2033."

Leitz Rudesheimer Berg Roseneck Katerloch Riesling GG 2014

95 Vinous, David Schildknecht
(5/2016) "White peach, mirabelle and lemon are pungently mingled with lavender, lemon peel, iris and ocean spray in a head-turning aromatic array that surges from the glass. Silken in feel and ultra-bright, the animating palate impression introduces a mouthwatering impression of oyster liquor while preserving wafting inner-mouth perfume. A buoyant, penetrating, consummately refreshing finish is at once concentrated yet subtle in its complexity. That this wine was refused Grosses Gewachs status for being 'too light' speaks volumes about - though hardly speaks well of - the entire Grosses Gewachs project to date and the way in which that imprimatur gets assigned. At 12.5% alcohol, this can hardly be called alcoholically light wine. Was it perhaps the wine's lift, filigree detail, animation or shameless pandering to human thirst and sensual longing that disturbed the judges? Drinking Window: 2016 - 2028"

Champalou "La Moelleuse" Vouvray 2015 500 ML

95 Wine Spectator
(9/30/2017) "Intense, with racy quince, green fig, mirabelle plum and yellow apple fruit zipping through, all while keeping an unctuous hint at the same time thanks to the sweet edge. The long finish has lovely tension and cut. A very focused, pure dessert wine. Drink now through 2040. 76 cases imported."

Hartford Court "Four Hearts" Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2017

96 Wine Advocate
(10/29/2018) "The 2017 Hartford Court Chardonnay Four Hearts Vineyard has a drop-dead gorgeous floral nose with notes of orange blossoms, honeysuckle and jasmine with a core of preserved lemons, candied ginger, peach cobbler and applesauce. Medium to full-bodied, it has a racy line of freshness and a wonderfully satiny texture, finishing long and citrusy. Drink 2019 - 2026."
